My Story, In Short

I’m a corporate-career-turned-doula mama. My own two births — including postpartum depression, feeding struggles, and tongue-tie surprises no one warned me about — are exactly why I do this work now. I don’t want you walking through it alone the way I so often did.

Quick Questions

What exactly does a birth & postpartum doula do?

A doula supports you emotionally, physically, and informationally — before, during, and after birth, including the postpartum weeks that often get overlooked. I would meet with you and your spouse/significant other to go over items on the birth plan, learn family and health history, discuss what you would like my role to be to best fit your needs, practice labor positions/pain management techniques, and even put together a postpartum support plan. There would be 2 sessions where we meet, ideally between 25 & 28 and again between 35 & 38 weeks. I would be “on-call” from 38 weeks for birth and available for postpartum support from day 0 to the end of month 4. Postpartum doula support can include light housework, light meal prep, supporting mom and baby bond, night shift support, and birth story processing.

Do you attend hospital births, or only home/unmedicated births?

I attend all birth locations with the exception of “free-births.”

What is the Unmedicated Academy and is it for only unmedicated birth plans?

The Unmedicated Academy is the birth education I partnered with, this is a self-paced online course where you will have a doula to walk you through any questions that come up (that’s me!). This is not an enroll and ghost class, this is a course where you will have access to a Due Date Besties chat, 1:1 text support with me, Weekly Group Q&A sessions, and more. You’ll learn all you need to know about… physiologic birth, how your body naturally works best, the hospital’s plan for your birth, the risks, benefits and all your alternative options, your birth rights, and how to advocate for what you want, all the tools and strategies for managing natural birth without drugs, how to get your partner on board as your best support person, and more with bonuses on prenatal care, VBAC, newborn procedures, postpartum and breastfeeding.

No, it is for all birth plans. This class goes beyond the hospital or even the birth center birth class due to the amount of information, access to a doula (me!) even without them attending your birth, and perspective. All moms should understand hospital policy, be ready and able to advocate for themselves, and support all three stages of labor (& more). You need to be prepared for a transfer or even a bad provider regardless of birth location.
